⁶ But when^[a] Herod’s birthday celebration took place, the daughter of Herodias danced in the midst of them and pleased Herod. ⁷ Therefore he promised with an oath to give her whatever she asked. ⁸ And coached by her mother, she said, “Give me the head of John the Baptist here on a platter!”
